Official Launch to Online System of Voluntary Labour Compliance Assessment

Official Launch to Online System of Voluntary Labour Compliance Assessment by Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) was held on 10th November, 2022 at Lotte Hotel Yangon , Sapphire Room.
Firstly, Chairman of MGMA U Myint Soe delivered welcoming remarks and then Secretary General of MGMA Daw Khine Khine Nwe explained about why VLCA is a requisite for MGMA’s sustainability and back ground of VLCA. She also presented that MGMA is “Responsibly Exist” for Myanmar Garment Industry and labour compliance by members’ factories.
Labour Officer of MGMA U Min Soe Han presented VLCA online system, how to submit document process on website and grievance mechanism for garment workers. In a panel section featuring Daw Khine Khine Nwe (Secretary General of MGMA), U Aung Myo Hein (CEC of MGMA), U Min Soe Han (Labour Officer of MGMA) and 2 Participants from member factory discussed benefits and challenges on assessment of VLCA practices in factories with Q & A session. The Executive Committee of MGMA, representative from Foreign Garment Association in Myanmar, representative of International Organization and MGMA’s member factories attended by launching ceremony and took group photo session in the final wrap up.
The Voluntary Labour Compliance Assessment (VLCA) is a new tool developed by MGMA to support factory-members continuously improve their labour compliance and social performance. It will help enhance business reputation by meeting customers and stakeholders’ expectations.
