MGMA’s 5th Annual Factory Award Dinner 2018

The MGMA hold “MGMA’s 5th Annual Factory Award Dinner 2018”  successfully in Inya Lake Hotel Yangon on 8thDecember 2018 with collaboration of sponsored by MTG (Myanmar International Textile & Garment IndustryExhibition), Korea Garment Association, Luther law firm, MSP-CAT (Generator), OV Logistic & Shipping Line (PHEE) and Nordic technology group Myanmar (NTGM). There was agreat chance to meet with manufacturers and industry service providers, brandrepresentatives and related logistics companies & organizations at thebiggest business networking opportunity for Myanmar’s apparel industry. Around240 participants joined to this event and together celebrated dinner with MGMA’s members, logistics companies, inspections,exhibition services, brands/retailers, buyers/suppliers and others.

Speeches by Union Minister from Ministry of Education, Dr. Myo Thein Gyi and Chairman of The Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association, U Myint Soe in this event.Awards were given by MGMA are The Garment Factory of the Year 2018 to Mingalar Sumbiri Garment Co. Ltd, The Best Practices Factoryof the Year 2018 to Natural Garment Mfg. Co. Ltd and The Best Practices in OHS Factory of the Year 2018 to Myanmar Huayi Co., Ltd. Another awards by MGMA are given TOT Awards of Best Instructor, SecondBest Instructor, Best Presenter and Criteria for the social compliance award to instructors and managers.

The 2nd Myanmar Textile Summit 2018 by MGMA in collaboration with ECV International Shanghai

The Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) held the 2nd Myanmar Textile Summit 2018 on 12-13 November at Sedona Hotel Yangon in cooperation with ECV International Shanghai.

The Summit focused on the latest governmental policies, international trading policies and labor law reform process on the Myanmar textile and apparel industry, sourcing practices and trends of international apparel brands. It also deals with the development situation of the Myanmar textile and apparel industry chain, EU view on Myanmar textile market, the main challenges faced by the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) companies or local manufacturers.

It was a good opportunity for some potential investors/ international buyers and local representatives from different industries in related sectors and Speakers from government & international stakeholder were presented to this event.

Study Tour to Germany

MGMA organized a study tour to Germany for 14  Myanmar Garment Manufacturers,  from 6 – 14 October 2018,  with strong support/ in cooperation with the Foreign Trade of German Retailers (AVE). On the program were several meetings with brands, buyers and international organizations in Hamburg, Berlin and Dusseldorf. Under the title “Made in Myanmar”, products of MGMA member companies were promoted  with a booth in major shopping malls in Hamburg and Dusseldorf,  aiming to inform German customers on sustainable garment production in the country. Furthermore, a Parliamentarian breakfast talk was organized and AVE hosted a dinner for Myanmar Ambassador to Berlin and all delegates.
